#27 - How Emma eloped to Mexico!

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Sneaky squirrels Emma and Mathew planned their secret wedding in just three months and had the best day, and trip, of their lives in February 2020. Here was their announcement:

"At 9 am on the 29th of February 2020, standing by a cenote in the jungles of Tulum, Mexico, we said, “I do”. In an intimate ceremony in a place that means so much to us, we promised to love and support each other for the rest of our lives. We are beyond happy!

After that, we enjoyed a mini-honeymoon in gorgeous Belize. It’s all very exciting and overwhelming so still coming back down to earth.
With love, Quick & Lovelly 💙💜
#quicknlovellywed
#cutegrossforever"

Listen as Darius asks them ALL the questions about how they planned it, what happened on the day and how they feel now about their special event.

Huge thanks to all the suppliers who made it possible, see show notes for details.

#25 - New Zealand

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Fond memories and lots of laughs ensued with this episode about our nearest foreign neighbour, New Zealand! Emma and Darius share their memories from a number of trips to the stunning island nation.

We talk about giggling at funny words and phrases, and then having the Kiwis (New Zealand locals) having a good crack back at us Aussies! We give each other a hard time, but we really love our buddies across the Tasman.

We praise New Zealand's culture and the wonderful incorporation of the Maori heritage into language, education and everyday life. It's ever-present and it's beautiful to see.

We explore Queenstown, Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Rotarua and more! Road trips are the best way to see NZ if you're ever planning a trip. Learn about this and so much more in this week's episode!

We've also added lots of great tips in the show notes of things to do and see, because there were just too many to jam into one episode!

#24 - A real life farmer's wife

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

When we got our first listener email, we were ecstatic! The fact that it was from a mutual friend of Darius and I was even better and we decided we must have her on the show!! Meet Millie!

Millie grew up in Sydney and at age 18 drove nearly halfway across Australia to work for a man she had never met, riding racehorses in Kaniva, Victoria. After 12 months, she returned to Sydney to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts / Bachelor of Arts at COFA / UNSW. Her heart never left the country and 15 years later, she is married to local farmer Travis raising three kids under five on the land. Travis and Millie in partnership with Travis's parents have a certified organic mixed farming enterprise, including 5000 merino sheep which Travis shears himself.

Listen as we learn more about the life of a farmer's wife and what it's like living in a rural country town of Australia! You'll be as captivated as we were listening to Millie's wonderful tales of farm life.

#23 - Living the island life in Ibiza

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Have you ever dreamed of moving to a stunning island in the Mediterranean and setting up a whole new life?

Well Annemarie Duperouzel did just that! This talented chef started out with a small dream of a sushi outlet in Ibiza, and now after 8 years manages a catering company called The Ibiza Kitchen. Catering for private parties, shoots, retreats, family clients and more. ❤️

Originally from the UK, Annemarie met Emma while doing promo work in Australia. She and her partner were on a big world wide adventure, but once their dream of the sushi store was seeming to be a possibility, they headed back to their (also) island home. Soon after, it was time to take the next leap and they were off to Ibiza in 2012.

Emma visited Ibiza in 2006 for the first time for the typical party trip but then had the pleasure of seeing the local side to the island with not one but two visits to catch up with Annemarie in 2012 and 2013!

Learn about what it's like to live on a beautiful island and build an entirely new life with our inspiring guest, Annemarie.

#22 - USA

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Well it's pretty clear what this episode is about!

Welcome ya'll to the United States of America. This was a tough one to do. There are 52 states! Emma has been 14 times to 11 states. Darius has been 3 times to 4 different states. There's A LOT to cover. So this episode, we briefly cover all of our visits to the US.

Darius fondly remembers (well through the help of photos) eating his first birthday cake in San Francisco. While Emma recounts her many visits to see Cuzzy Bill in Illinois and Wisconsin (from episode 21).

We'll have many more episodes with people from and about the US, but join us for this swift little tour around this massive country with plenty of tourism opportunities on offer!

#21 - Magical Cuzzy Bill from USA

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

A very close one to Emma's heart! This is the first episode where she welcomes a family member onto the podcast! William Hunter, aka Bill "Magic 500" Hunter is Emma's first cousin twice removed, more fondly known as "Cuzzy Bill".

Cuz at the time of the recording was 97 years old! But his memory is as fresh as a daisy and he shares many wonderful stories from his time in the Navy during World War II, living through the Great Depression, and performing magic at the Indy 500 for more than 50 years.

Yes that's right, magic! He's got a magical personality but he is also a professional magician! He's still performing and being paid for his talents even up to today! Most recently doing a show for a local community group. He's performed at Indy 500, for the drivers and in the suites, and also at NASCAR events and Air Shows all over the USA.

He also loves travel! Visiting many countries in his navy days and then going on to explore more of the world. He's now visited 41 countries, and loves comparing notes with Emma about all the places they've visited. Australia is his #1 - for more reasons than the obvious family connections.

He's one of Emma's favourite people in the world, and he soon may be yours too. Enjoy this lovely episode.

#20 - Podcaster and Traveller, Gail Lovelace Menasco

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Gail Lovelace Menasco, Producer and Host of Experiences You Should Have Podcast, has always been an adventurer at heart. She learned to SCUBA dive at 16 and went on her first shark diving trip as a teenager (behind her mother's back), and never stopped diving. When she was 20, she fell into the world of skydiving and became an avid skydiver for years and jumped out of various types of aircraft around the US until settling down with a family. Now she and her husband dive in remote places around the world and are showing their love of travel to their daughter who has joined them on trips to Thailand, Singapore, Mexico, Hawaii and more.

Emma loved chatting with Gail on her podcast, Experiences you should have, and it was wonderful to have her come on over to Lovelly Travels and share more travel tales.

#19 - Kate Toon - Podcaster Extraordinaire

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

We're not going to lie, this was an exciting one! Kate Toon is a rock star podcaster and a super cool entrepreneur so it was a privilege to have her come and join us so early on in the Lovelly Travels podcast journey.

Emma and Kate talk about travel, of course! A big change from the many things that Kate is usually talking about with her business related podcasts but she loves travel and is an excellent story teller, so this is a fun one.

Originally from the UK, Kate now calls Australia home and she shares some of her wonderful adventures in between her two homes.

Kate Toon is a writing entrepreneur, as well as a popular coach, speaker, author and podcaster. She’s also a mad good hula hooper (there's a fun story to this one too)!

Join us as Emma fan girls over Kate's book, travel memories are relived and many laughs are had.

#18 - Japan

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Konnichi wa! Watashi wa Emma des. Welcome to our Japan episode! Darius and Emma have both visited the beautiful country of Japan and they share their adventures.

They also discuss the love of Japanese culture, especially food, that's spread around the world! Sushi is a staple snack food in many countries now and Japanese restaurants continue to rise in popularity.

They remember their trips, learning Japanese in high school and Emma shares a random (slightly related) story about how she ended up being on a radio show for a week!! Tune in
